Metropolitan Talent is a diversified entertainment company with divisions in concert promotion, artist management, and recorded music.
Our concert promotion division, Metropolitan Talent Presents, produces shows throughout the New York metropolitan area (including New York State, New Jersey, and Connecticut), with occasional forays across the United States and Canada to promote national tours. We routinely promote shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden, and have an exclusive booking arrangement with The Concert Hall, a beautiful venue located on Central Park West at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. We refer to the space as a "secular cathedral" due to its wonderful acoustics and ambiance. A few of the artists that have graced the stage at The Concert Hall include Erasure, Billy Bragg, Brandi Carlisle, Marc Broussard, Shelby Lynne, The Cowboy Junkies, Kris Kristofferson, and Bruce Cockburn. We also produce Broadway shows, and in 2009 won a Tony award for our production of LIZA’s at the Palace, Liza Minnelli’s recent Broadway smash.
Our management division oversees the careers of legendary artists Art Garfunkel (co-managing Simon and Garfunkel with manager Jeff Kramer), thirteen time Grammy Award nominee and three time Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby, and Little Feat (co-managed with long time associate Cameron Sears). We’ve also recently added an extraordinary singer-songwriter, Dana Parish, to our roster.
Hybrid Recordings is an independent label that we have developed over the last decade, with which we explored a variety of deals (50/50, "360") long before they were in vogue. Hybrid's physical product is distributed by SONY/RED, and we directly control our digital distribution. Our most recent release was the double CD set of the soundtrack for LIZA’s at the Palace.
Our plans for growth include a recent acquisition and merger with CMJ, which we believe leverages CMJ’s great brand and expertise with Metropolitan’s skill set of creating live events and managing artists. Our long term plan with CMJ includes the revitalization of Hybrid Recordings as a master and publishing rights artist cooperative, with which we hope to address the diverse needs of artists' careers.
We work in a great space at 100 Fifth Avenue in New York City with a staff of longtime friends, including manager Mark Spector (Joan Baez, Cowboy Junkies, Mary Gauthier); Paul Rappaport, radio syndicator and consummate record man of Columbia Records fame; George Gilbert, music industry lawyer and former promotion man; and indie rock label Frenchkiss Records, current home of the Dodos, Passion Pit, the Antlers, and many others.
